MEETINGS

Please check the Meeting Schedule as there is not a meeting every month this year!  This is the proposed meeting schedule, and is likely to change. If you are a member and have concerns, please bring them up at a meeting!   Meetings are open to the public.  

CLASSES  

HEATED  Conformation Classes are ongoing at Sally Sullivan's Training Center - 7320 S. E. King Rd. in Port Orchard. (Directions) Classes are held every Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Cost is $8.00 per person for any number of dogs. Instructors are Christine Maxfield, Diane Tardy, and Nancy Waggoner. Instructor help is always needed - contact Diane Tardy at (253)857-6520 if you can help. Also- call Diane if there is a question about weather canceling class!

ABOUT US

Thank you for visiting the Gig Harbor Kennel Club. We are a non-profit, all-breed dog club that incorporated in 1982. Our primary objective is to do all in our power to protect and further the interests of all breeds of pure-bred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at all dog events. To that end, we sponsor many dog-centered activities each year.

·         We have an All-Breed dog show accompanied by a Rally competition and an Obedience Trial every year. 

·         We hold an AKC sponsored match every summer, and a three day Agility trial.  You can find out more about these activities in the Events section of our website. 

·         We offer weekly classes for Learning/Honing Handling Skills and Puppy Socialization  

We support many dog-related charities.  One of our major projects is the donation of dog food to our local Gig Harbor FISH Food Bank so all family members- even the four legged ones- are helped! 

Community Involvement  Members have visited many schools and nursing homes in the past. We are open to requests or new suggestions to broaden the scope of exposure.

Public Education. We strive to have an educational program open to the community at each meeting. Topics are anything dog-related that someone expresses interest in that we can get a speaker for.  A variety of programs are available that promote responsible dog ownership.

Canine Good Citizen Test. Offered annually in conjunction with our All Breed Dog Show and occasionally throughout the year. A variety of tests assess your dog's confidence and control. This program embraces both pure-bred dogs and mixed-breed dogs to ensure our favorite canine companions can be respected members of our community.
